The employees of the Muskegon County Circuit Court’s Family Division were supposed to use county vehicles to check on juvenile delinquents serving probation. A family court supervisor put GPS units in the workers’ car trunks, and the devices allowed the supervisor to discover that the workers were not where they were supposed to be.
The satellite units allowed the supervisor to discover the workers were going home during working hours. One worker went to a golf course, while another went to a gym. However, the employees’ time sheets showed they were doing spot checks on teenagers serving probation.
Two of the workers investigated have since resigned, while another has been disciplined.
