State police post changes include Grand Haven

AP Wire • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:09 AM

Beginning Sunday, Oct. 16, 19 posts will convert to detachments where troopers can start and end their shifts, store property and evidence and meet with the public by appointment. These posts include the one in Grand Haven at 1622 S. Beacon Blvd.

Detachments won’t maintain public lobby hours.

Etue said the plan will make the state police “more mobile and flexible” and increase trooper visibility. It also will help the department save nearly $18 million in the new budget year without laying off any of the department’s more than 1,000 troopers.

More information on the Regional Policing Plan can be found on the state police website: www.michigan.gov/msp.
