The bust occurred when a state trooper stopped Leo Sharp for improper lane use near Chelsea in Washtenaw County.
Police said 104 brick-shaped objects tested positive for cocaine. The total weight was 228 pounds.
Sharp appeared Monday at a detention hearing in Detroit, where U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Randon ordered the Michigan City, Ind., resident released on bond.
Sharp, who has no criminal record, claims he was forced “at gunpoint” to transport the drugs. Randon reminded Sharp that anything he said in court could be used against him.
It wasn’t immediately clear where Sharp was headed when he was stopped on Friday.
