Ferrysburg Fire Chief Mike Olthof said a woman was cleaning her oven when some material in the bottom of the oven caught on fire. The oven was too hot for the lock to release, so firefighters carried the stove outside where the fire eventually burned itself out.

Firefighters used their fans to clear smoke from the home, Olthoff said. There was no other damage to the house.

“She’s going to have to get a new stove,” he added.
