Virginia Ann Epplett, 45, complained of a head injury and was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital following the 5:45 a.m. accident, said Robinson Township Fire Chief Paul VanVelzen.
Epplett was driving west on Green Street, heading to work, when she said she looked down just before coming into a curve in the road, VanVelzen said. She overcorrected, went across the eastbound lane and hit a guy wire to a utility pole at 13762 Green St., VanVelzen said. That flipped the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer up on its side.
Firefighters removed the windshield to get the woman out of her SUV. She was conscious and alert the entire time, VanVelzen said.
Epplett was wearing a seat belt, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Epplett was treated and released, a hospital spokesperson said.
