The male patrol supervisor was suspended on Friday, Steigenga said.
“It’s a paid suspension pending our review of the situation,” he said. “It is not criminal in nature.”
Steigenga said the department hopes to have the review finished this week. An internal hearing will be held with the officer, he noted.
“The circumstances surrounding the review include inappropriate comments and related behavior during the supervisor’s interaction with subordinates,” Steigenga said.
“As a result, we deal with it,” he added.
The undersheriff declined to name the officer.
