Woman beaten, set on fire vaguely recounts attack

AP Wire • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:19 AM

Lori Lee, 38, said she only has vague memories of the Oct. 8 incident and is hopeful somebody has information about the man who left her for dead.

“I do remember the gasoline being poured on me ... and, um ... set on fire,” Lee told WOOD-TV on Friday.

No arrests have been made.

Lee said she met a man while walking downtown. She described him only as having dark hair, dark eyes and an accent. The next thing she remembered was waking up and being pulled from a van.

“The only thing that I said to him is, ‘Why are you doing this to me?’” Lee said.

Badly burned and beaten, she woke the next day in a park and sought help at a nearby home in Wyoming, just outside of Grand Rapids.

She spent weeks in intensive care recovering from her burns. Lee is blind in her right eye.
