“We did, in fact, have another ‘smash-and-grab’ incident at St. Patrick’s Church,” Lt. Renee Freeman said.
Freeman said the latest incident occurred between 9:30 and 11 Sunday morning. She said the suspect likely saw a purse in a vehicle at the church, took it and used credit cards inside the purse at local businesses.
This incident is similar to two others reported by the GHDPS in recent weeks.
On Feb. 2, it was reported that the department was seeking information on two male suspects who were believed to have been the same persons who smashed car windows and stole purses from cars in Grand Haven and at The Lakes Mall in Fruitport Township. The suspects then used the credit cards to make purchases.
Area resident Jackie Baden was in choir practice Feb. 2 when her car was targeted while parked in a lot near First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven.
“I came out of choir practice at 8:30 p.m.,” she said. “I saw the smashed window when I walked up to the car.”
Anyone with information on the incidents or the suspects is asked to call GHDPS at 842-3460 or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368). A tip may also be submitted online at www.mosotips.com.
