Drunk Mich. man kicked off train in Ohio

Thomas Dingman, 49, was charged with disorderly conduct intoxicated. The girl’s mother chose not to pursue assault charges.

Sometime before 3:30 a.m., Dingman walked to the girl’s cabin door and said he was looking for a man named Joe, according to a Sandusky police report. Without warning, he burst into the cabin and grabbed the 17-year-old girl by the neck. When she screamed for help, train employees ran to her aid and quickly detained Dingman, the report said.

Dingman, who had boarded in Pontiac, Mich., later said he couldn’t remember what happened.

“He ... stated he came out of the bathroom and several people told him to put his hands up,” the police report said.

The girl’s mother said she only wanted Dingman kicked off the train.

And that’s exactly what employees did. Police picked him up in Sandusky and he was taken to the Erie County jail. A test revealed his blood-alcohol content was 0.145 percent.

Dingman was released from jail Thursday evening after posting $1,370 bond.
