Police bust meth lab in Holland motel room

Tribune Staff • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:32 AM

The caller said narcotics were being manufactured in a room.

"Based on initial consent to enter the room, officers determined there was enough probable cause to secure the room and obtain a search warrant to further search," said Capt. Jack Dykstra of the Holland Department of Public Safety.

A search warrant was obtained by the West Michigan Enforcement Team, and an undetermined amount of methamphetamines were found in the motel room. Officers also found evidence that the drugs were being manufactured in the room and found more stored at a storage unit at 1187 Central Ave. in Holland.

Specialized clean-up teams from the state police took several hours to clear and make safe both locations, and remove the hazardous and potentially explosive material while Holland Fire Services personnel stood by.

No arrests related to the methamphetamines were made on Friday, but detectives from WEMET said there will be charges after the investigation is complete.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and additional suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety at 616-355-1100 or e-mail at police@cityofholland.com, or call Silent Observer at 877-887-4536 or leave a tip online at mosotips.com.
