Firefighters were called to 1333 Slayton at 11:09 p.m. Saturday where a wooden privacy fence was burning. The fire was quickly knocked down, but had already melted siding on a detached garage.

The fire also caused heavy damage to a 1987 Ford conversion van that was parked next to the fence, Boyle said. It extended into the interior of the van. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to $3,000.

A classic car, belonging to a neighbor, on the other side of the fence was also damaged. Boyle said the 1972 Pontiac LeMans had about $3,000-$4,000 worth of damage.

About 30 feet of fence burned.

Boyle said the fire is still under investigation, but does not appear to be intentionally set.
