The owners of Eye Vision, 110 S. Lake St., confirmed that the money was missing after being called to the scene. The glass front door had been smashed with an unknown object to gain access, police said.

Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police officers were investigating an attempted break-in across the street when they did a sweep of the area and found the damaged door at Eye Vision. They said it was apparent that the main desk in the business' lobby had been gone through.

Police were also called to the Village Baker, 617 E. Savidge St., where a door had been pried but not opened. They believe that happened between 8 and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Village Baker owner Orin Rankin told police he saw three white teenage boys in the area around 9:30 p.m., and possibly the same teens again near the Rite Aid store around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Police received reports Thursday morning of two more locations hit overnight in the same area, near the corner of Savidge Street and Lake Avenue.

Anyone with information on the break-in and break-in attempt is asked to call police at 842-1889, or Silent Observer at 877-88-SILENT (745368).
