Riley Sheahan, 20, was arrested Oct. 30 at the intersection of Ottawa Avenue and Pearl Street in downtown Grand Rapids after driving the wrong way on Ottawa.
Sheahan identified himself to police as Brendan Smith, and he was wearing a purple Teletubbies costume. According to the police report, Sheahan's eyes were glazed over and blood shot, and the interior of his car smelled of alcohol.
Sheahan told police that he had a "few" drinks and probably shouldn't be driving. He failed the road sobriety tests and refused a Breathalyzer test.
Police took Sheahan to the Kent County Jail, where he took a Breathalyzer test. Police said he recorded two tests of 0.30 percent blood-alcohol each time. The legal limit for drunk driving in Michigan is 0.08, and the threshold for the state's "Super Drunk" laws is 0.17.
At the jail, Sheahan asked to take off the Teletubbies costume and fell over while doing so, police said. He also told police that he had the ID of Brendan Smith because he used it to get into bars.
Sheahan is charged with fraudulent ID by a minor, operating under the influence (over 0.17 blood-alcohol), refusal to take a Breathalyzer test and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
