Fine dining inn to reopen

The fine dining restaurant at 18191 174th Avenue in Spring Lake Township will feature several new entrees — but the original menu remains primarily intact, according to the new operators, Jason and Jill Fettes.
The Fetteses said they are excited to rekindle the romance that Arboreal Inn represented for many of its customers before it abruptly closed before Valentine's Day 2012.
“We've had people stop in almost every day asking when we're opening up,” Jill said.
Jill said she's already taken a reservation for an older couple who used to frequent the Arboreal Inn.
“He said, 'My wife and I always sit in front of the fireplace at 7 p.m.,'” Jill said. “We're looking forward to serving the locals. We understand they were a big part of this business.”
The husband and wife team met when they were working at Goodfellow's Restaurant on Mackinac Island, which is owned by Jason's cousin. Jill was trained in fine dining at the Iroquois Hotel on Mackinac Island and was also employed by the Grand Hotel.
The Arboreal Inn has undergone a complete interior transformation — with new flooring, wall colors and chairs. Despite the new look, the Fetteses hope the restaurant's old popularity returns.
“We're really excited to be a part of the community,” said Jill, who grew up in West Olive but had never dined at the Arboreal Inn. “Because of all the stories I've heard from customers, I feel like I really know this place.”
The Arboreal Inn's former chef, Bob LaTour, has agreed to cook part-time. Jason will serve as executive chef.
