Sloppy parking lots?

Richard supplied some photos of the entrances to Grand Haven municipal parking lots he said were taken during the busy Winterfest weekend.
"I think it's inexcusable," he added, "considering the ... dollars the city has saved last year and the first part of this year due to lower snow-removable costs. You didn't have to clear the entire lot, just give people a place to drive and walk."
Tribune reporter Alex Doty asked City Manager Pat McGinnis about Richard's beef.
"We plowed these alleys at 3 a.m. with a special plastic plow that does not damage the stamped concrete," McGinnis explained. "When the temps warmed up on Saturday, the hard pack loosened up and it looks messy. Our crews did a very good job cleaning up 60 miles of streets and all parking areas.
"We do live in Michigan, and sometimes the slop gets ahead of us."
McGinnis insisted that the city parking lots did not remain unplowed when there was an event going on.
"They were plowed, but snow has a way of melting and moving," he added.
