The National Weather Service said Jackson and Pontiac were the state's hot spots Tuesday at 64 degrees.
The weather bureau said Muskegon's temperature hit 57 degrees at about 5 p.m., breaking the record of 54 degrees set on the date in 1914.
The high reached 61 at Holland and Monroe, and 57 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Police in Lansing said fog and slick roads factored in a multi-vehicle crash on I-496 that killed a 24-year-old Lansing man Tuesday morning.
