Joseph Finnigan, 73, waived his arraignment, which was scheduled for Monday, on charges of embezzlement over $20,000, and two counts of larceny over $20,000.

Finnigan has been free on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond since being charged with the crimes.

He was released from  his job as deacon and pastoral associate in early November, 2012.

Officials said despite security measures in place, Finnigan had been taking money over a number of years.
