Police: Woman attacks parents with hatchet, knife

Amber Lynn Wilson, 28, was living with her parents at their Wyoming home. Around 12 a.m., the parents woke up to Wilson standing over the bed. Police said she hit her mother in the shoulder with a hatchet.

"After she attacked her mother, the step-father intervened," Wyoming Police Chief James Carmody said. "She produced a knife that she had and stabbed him."

The mother and step-father were able to get out of the house and flag down a Wyoming police officer.

"About 12:45 a.m., the officer was on a traffic stop," Carmody said. "The couple pulled up and indicated they had been injured, been stabbed."

The parents were taken to the hospital as police surrounded the home.

"We made the assumption that she was still at house, the car was in the driveway," Carmody said.

After several attempts to reach Wilson, just after 7 a.m., the officers went inside the home and discovered she wasn't there.

Just before noon Wednesday, Wilson was spotted walking near 36th Street and Clyde Park.

"It appeared she had been out most of the evening, based on her appearance," Carmody said.

Police said Wilson isn't cooperating with the investigation and they don't want to speculate on why she attacked her parents. She's being held at the Kent County Jail on two charges of attempted murder.
