Bullet hits home

Becky Vargo • Jul 21, 2015 at 12:25 PM

A bullet found lodged in a wall inside a home on Port Sheldon Road was apparently from a man shooting guns at a nearby state game area, said Sgt. Chris Koster of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday to a home on Port Sheldon Road, between 120th and 112th avenues, when the resident reported finding the bullet.

The resident did not see or hear anything prior to finding the bullet, Koster said.

Deputies located a person in the state game area, southeast of the residence, which said he was trying to sight a rifle and had shot into an area covered by water in the direction of Port Sheldon Road.

The incident is still under investigation.
