The crash occured at 3:25 p.m. in the northbound lane of Beacon Boulevard just south of Jackson Street.

According to police, a 50-year-old Muskegon man was on his way home from work when he changed lanes on his motorcycle and didn't see that a car had stopped.

"He layed it down and slid under the car," said Sgt. Randy Poel of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.

The man's head hit the car's rear bumper, Poel said.

"If he was not wearing a helmet he would have been seriously injured," Poel said. "This is a classic example of why you should always wear a helmet."

The man's name was not available. He was taken by North Ottawa Community Hospital Ambulance from the scene.

The Tribune will update this story as more information becomes available.
