Southfield police spokesman Lt. Nick Loussia said the boy broke a window at about 3 a.m. Friday to get inside the Bank of America branch. The boy set off the emergency alarm.
The bank's security company told police that video showed a suspect inside.
Officers found the bicycle near the front door and said the boy had "property from the bank on his person."
WDIV-TV broadcast video of the child being led out in handcuffs. The video also showed what appeared to be cash and rolls of coins on a counter inside the bank.
The boy was turned over to his mother.
