GH's downtown development director resigns

Kollewehr announced her resignation from the position effective July 31.

Originally from Spring Lake, Kollewehr has been the director of Grand Haven’s Main Street Downtown Development Authority since 2007 and with the organization since 2006.

During her tenure, she has initiated and implemented an in-depth infrastructure and streetscape project on Washington Avenue, developed many successful events including Grand Haven ArtWalk and Wine About Winter, created a Principal Shopping District and developed an award-winning business retention and recruitment strategy. In addition, Kollewehr led the development authority to National Main Street Accreditation.

Under her leadership Grand Haven’s vacancy rate dropped from a high of 24 percent to just 2 percent today.

Dana is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Connect program, was named one of Northwest Ottawa County’s top 20 business leaders under 40 and is Secretary of Grand Haven’s Lighthouse Conservancy.

“It has been a great honor for me to make a positive impact in such a vibrant community as Grand Haven," Kollewehr said. "It is very rewarding to see the ideas and projects imagined with passionate community leaders and volunteers come to fruition and have a profound effect on the quality of life in Grand Haven."

Kollewehr will continue to pursue her interest in community and economic development as the Downtown Manager for the City of Holland. She will oversee the comprehensive operations of downtown staff engaged in the areas of marketing, promotions, special events, maintenance and improvements to streetscape and infrastructure, downtown planning and economic development, and the downtown parking program.

The Main Street DDA Board of Grand Haven is evaluating their plans for the director role and will be posting the position soon.

A farewell gathering for Kollewehr it set for 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus St.
