Five members of a Middleville family suffered minor injuries in the crash, said Sgt. John Wolffis of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. An ambulance transported the sixth family member, a 7-year-old girl, to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The child had non-life-threatening injuries, Wolffis said.
A 42-year-old Middleville man was driving the 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck and camper east on I-96 near the 17-mile marker about 3:45 p.m. when the BMW merged into his path, causing him to take evasive action, Wolffis said.
The truck went off the south shoulder, re-entered the road, crossed both lanes and entered the median, Wolffis said. The truck and camper rolled and came to rest on eastbound I-96.
Police are looking for help identifying the driver of the suspect vehicle: a black BMW with tinted windows and several stickers on the back, including a white Oakley sticker.
The driver is described as a younger white male. His passenger was a younger white female with blonde hair.
Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to call Silent Observer at 1-877-88 SILENT.
