Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Crockery Mobile Home Park, 13251 State Road, at about 4:34 p.m. after receiving a report that a 14-year-old boy with a gun had shot at the caller, but missed.

Police discovered that a younger child had made the emergency call, but that it was unfounded. No shots had been fired.

The boy’s father said the child saw some holes in the sand that he thought were made by bullets. The boy used a cellphone to call 911.

The man said there was no one else around and there was no weapon.
