Vickie Lynn Brill, 50, and Diane Marie Hart, 45, are both expected to be arraigned Friday on charges of solicitation to commit murder. The sisters are lodged in the Muskegon County Jail.
Michigan State Police said a 51-year-old Ravenna man received information from a family member that his wife and her sister were attempting to arrange his death. Following an extensive investigation that involved state police resources across Michigan, including the Grand Haven detachment, detectives set up an undercover sting operation.
On Tuesday, an officer posing as a hit man contacted the two suspects and set up a meeting. They met Wednesday in a Norton Shores parking lot, where the suspects discussed the manner of death and payment for the murder contract with the undercover officer.
The Associated Press reported that Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson said $5,000 was to be paid for the killing, with jewelry used as a down payment.
It is unclear which sister was married to the man who was targeted for the hit. Court records show that Diane Hart recently filed for divorce from her husband, Gene.
