No injuries were reported in either fire.
Grand Haven Township firefighters responded to the intersection of U.S. 31 and Buchanan Street at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday for the first fire.
Chief Tom Gerencer said the driver of the 1996 GM S10 pickup truck was westbound on Buchanan, east of U.S. 31, when he heard a popping sound in the engine compartment and noticed smoke coming from the hood.
The engine compartment was fully involved in fire when firefighters arrived. The vehicle is considered a total loss.
Gerencer said the cause of the fire was undetermined.
Firefighters extinguished a second fire after being called at 7:36 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection of 144th Avenue and Lincoln Street.
The engine compartment of the older model Ford Ranger pickup truck was also fully involved in fire.
The cause of this fire was also undetermined, Gerencer said.
