Woman walking dogs attacked by errant goat

“It comes charging at me, running at me,” she said after the 6 p.m. incident. “It ran me up on the deck and cornered me.”

Neither she nor the dogs were injured.

Good said she was walking her two Siberian huskies down Pierce Street, west of 160th Avenue in Grand Haven Township, when the aggressive animal made its appearance. Her 911 call came across the police scanner as a goat head-butting a person walking a dog.

Good ran her dogs about an eighth of a mile down the road before running up onto the deck of the nearest house, she said.

Eventually, someone came and retrieved the goat. It was gone and Good had walked a half-mile back toward her home before police arrived.

“I shouldn’t have to worry about it when I take my dogs for a walk,” she said.

Good said she missed a previous encounter with the goat when a kid yelled at her to stay away because the goat was out. The goat had escaped through an electronic fence, she was told.

Good told police she didn’t know if there had been any other complaints about the animal.

She said the large goat had a black face and was multi-colored with horns that went straight back.

Deputy Keith Biros of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said the case would be turned over to Animal Control for further investigation.
