David continued:

"I used to live up in Northeastern Michigan and have taken two beavers while living up there, and have a beaver pelt on the back of my sofa, so I know my beavers!"

Here's what Michigan Department of Natural Resources CO B.J. Goulette has to say:

"Despite what I hear a fair amount from people along the Grand River there is not a shortage of beavers in the area. People don’t tend to see them very often because they are mostly nocturnal and they don’t tend to build the typical hut and beaver dam that people expect to see along with them.  In a large river system like the Grand beavers don’t need to build huts or dams and often live in holes they dig into the banks.  I see sign of beavers all along the Grand River in Ottawa County while I am patrolling the river."
