More places to park?

Phil continued: "Is the rest of the parking area also going to be resurfaced soon? And, are there more or less parking spaces in the fishermen's parking lot now that it is finished?”
Wow, Phil: You really have an interest in the state park asphalt!
Anyway, Grand Haven State Park Supervisor Joyce Rhodes told me that they did indeed gain 20 spaces with the new parking lot, and the spaces are even bigger than the old ones.
As to your second question, Rhodes said the rest of the lot is on a waiting list.
“We are on the list of Capital Outlay Projects, but really needed to get the worst one done first,” she explained. “This project was over $400,000. The next section is larger and will be over $500,000, which is not within the park operating budget. The paperwork is submitted and the draft plans have been completed, so this will give us the upper hand when competing with 101 parks that, in many cases, have issues of infrastructure worse than ours.”
As for the fishermen’s lot, three parking spaces were added for emergency vehicles, Rhodes said, but the number of spaces for visitors is the same. Again, the spaces are bigger than the old ones.
