Dark clouds rolled over the Grand Haven Golf Club as the dinner rolls were being passed, but the downpour only seemed to accentuate how much investment the companies have poured into the local scene — more than $20 million combined.

More than 100 local, county and state leaders attended the event to pay tribute to the businesses chosen by the five municipalities that partner with the local Chamber of Commerce:

*Ferrysburg: Shoreline Sport and Spine Physical Therapy ($2.2 million investment)

*Grand Haven: Preferred Auto Dealerships ($2.6 million investment)

*Grand Haven Township: MS Metal Solutions ($2.8 million investment)

*Spring Lake Township: Supreme Machined Products ($12 million investment)

*Village of Spring Lake: 521 LLC ($650,000 investment)

Chamber Vice President David Miller said that three of the companies — Shoreline Sport and Spine, MS Metal Solutions, and 521 LLC — all refurbished vacant buildings and put them back into productive use.

Supreme Machined Products recently closed its South Carolina plant and relocated those jobs and operations in Spring Lake Township.

Preferred Auto Dealerships owner Joe Betten said its been a dream of his and his daughter Amy’s for more than two decades to expand their business in Grand Haven.
