Police said a man claiming to be a contractor, approached the front and then the back door of the Waverly Avenue home at around 4 p.m.

The man asked for a bucket of hot water to assist with asphalt work.

While the 87-year-old woman complied with the request, two other men entered the house and stole unknown items, police said.

The men left in a newer white 4-door sedan with an out-of-state, possibly Wyoming, plate.

The three suspects, possibly Hispanic are:

- A man approximately 40 years old, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, medium build, black hair, wearing a short-sleeved blue shirt.

- A man approximately 30 years old, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, heavy build, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

- A man approximately 50-60 years old, heavy build, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on this incident or these people is asked to call the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety at 842-3460, or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.

Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke encourages residents to never allow unidentified people into your homes.

“Ask for identification,” he said. “If in doubt, call 911.”
