Hula-Hoop record attempt in Coopersville
About 350 people braved the weather in an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records of "most people dancing with a Hula-Hoop." It happened on the Coopersville High School football field.
Although they fell short of breaking the record, event co-coordinator Catherine Meintsma said they were pleased with the turnout in spite of the weather.
“We were trying to think of something to promote Coopersville,” she said about creating the event.
Duane Young, another event coordinator, said the current record is 637 people in Australia.
