World War II airplane crashes
A World War II-era airplane crashed on takeoff after its engine lost power early Saturday evening. Pilot Dan Schiffer, 62, of the Lansing-area, suffered a leg injury in the crash. He was the fourth in line of five War Birds leaving the Hatfield Airport when he crashed. The last plane aborted its takeoff and the other three planes returned to the airfield. Schiffer was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
