WMC's 10-game win streak snapped
A 10-game winning streak came to a screeching halt Friday night as host Western Michigan Christian lost its homecoming contest to Covenant Christian, 63-45.
The Warriors drop to 11-4 on the season, 2-2 in the conference, with two of those losses coming against Covenant.
The teams were tied 9-9 at the first stop, but Covenant raced out to a 31-19 halftime lead and upped it to 46-31 going into the final period.
Junior Bernard Smith led a sluggish WMC offense with 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Senior James Jackson tossed in 11 point and Jacob Ray added eight.
The Chargers were led by Ben Noorman with 18 points and Jared Norman with 14.
The Warriors connected on only 9-of-21 free throw attempts while Covenant was 19 out of 24.
Junior Varsity: WMC avenged an early season loss by defeating Covenant 55-47. Freshman James Godwin led the way with 16 points, Ben Mast added nine, Jared Varnado 7seven and Sam Bekins and Derrick Holt each tossed in six.
Freshmen: WMC lost 49-38. Bemonta Bartee had 10 for WMC while Jordan Rhodes and Chris Hain each scored six.
