Don't forget your rape insurance!
Its still murder, God creates life, not rapists so go ahead kill the innocent for your conveinence and roll them dice God does not exist!
The answer is adoption for people who are absolutely dead set against abortion. What, you say you don't have enough money for medical bills or the space to adopt a kid? It's too inconvenient? It doesn't work with your schedule for work? You don't have a spare room for the kid at your place? You don't know much about taking care of young kids? Won't be allowed time off work? Welcome to the world of every single mother considering abortion!
Unless every single person who considers themselves "pro life" has adopted a kid, their opinions are meaningless as far as I'm concerned because they're not willing to even do themselves what they're attempting to force everyone else to do. Abortion is just a symptom of lack of resources (time, money, etc) of the mother, and her making a rational choice based on those factors, so unless a "pro-lifer" is willing to help her on that front they share in the blame. I'd love to ask these pro-lifers what they've personally done as far as advocating universal health care, universal Head Start/Pre-K, and a constitutionally protected right to maternity and paternity leave from work.
Murder as a rational choice, wow? I am in favor of adoption as an alternative. Have I adopted? No, although we were seriously considering it, prior to having children the old fashioned way. Are you in favor of saving the rain forests? According to your logic, if you haven't actually chained yourself to a tree to prevent it being cut down, then your opinion is meaningless. Sounds kind of rediculous. There are others who are willing and able to adopt, I support them doing so. I'm not "forcing" anyone to adopt.
Regarding your last sentence, I pay my taxes which have been used to support the things you list. Happy, now?
It is a wonderful thing that you and your wife had the freedom of choice regarding conceiving a child. Many conceptions occur without any choice in the matter, either before, during, or after the conception. As it is, many women choose to have their babies and then give them up for adoption, or count on other family members to help with the child-raising. The important thing is that women should have the freedom to choose to do what they feel is necessary, not have their choices denied or "forced" on them.
Adoption is not without risk, either. The average wait is around 1-2 years, and the average costs, $20,000-$45,000. I'm a big supporter of adoption, but view it as one of many options that should be available to women - both birth/adoptive mothers.
Your taxes go to support universal health care, universal pre-K, and a constitutionally protected right to maternity/paternity leave?
Where do you live, some sort of sci-fi utopia where the laws are actually sane?
