The Hudsonville Nature Center is a 76-acre preserve of woodlands, prairies and wetlands in the small suburban city in southeastern Ottawa County. The busy I-196 borders it to the south. The park offers lots of hiking trails, lookouts, wild flowers and picnic areas. The city's website says a Master Naturalist offers free guided hiking tours each spring, summer and fall. When we found it, some of the trails were semi-blocked by fallen trees and large limbs from the July 7, 2017, windstorm. That includes a bridge over a creek that was destroyed and unusable. Make sure you bring bug spray. And heed the many warnings of poison ivy.
