Grand Haven senior lacrosse standout Brooke Lonergan signed her letter of intent Tuesday to play college lacrosse for Barton College in North Carolina next year.
"Brooke has always set her sights to play at the next level,” said Grand Haven girls lacrosse head coach Scott Sweet-Christian. “What makes her stand out is that she worked every day with the intensity and determination to make her dream a reality. She is key for our draws and our transition game, as well as an offensive weapon. On top of this, she is one of our senior leaders and sets a great example for the younger girls in our program.”
Barton College girls lacrosse coach Brit Kadlowec made Lonergan a top priority on the recruiting trail.
"When I first saw Brooke over the summer at the IWLCA Capital Cup, she was a student-athlete I knew could come in and make an impact," she said. "Brooke brings a great defensive approach to the game, while also helping transition the ball and makes an impact in the midfield. This, of course, is combined with a the ability to score and win the draw.
"Brooke is a great student in the classroom, too, and I know she will accomplish great things in the Honors College here at Barton. Our priorities within our program is not only to win against the competition, but win in the classroom, campus, and community. Brooke will help us succeed doing all those things."
