The second season of the Sunday Art Market, a juried weekly show of established and emerging artists from West Michigan, opens June 5. The market will be under the green canopy next to Chinook Pier, at Harbor and First streets, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday through Sept. 11. Displays will include fine art and high-end crafts such as pottery, metal works, photography, jewelry and textiles. There is a nominal fee for participating. The downtown reconstruction project has brought about many changes, from a new snowmelt system and improved public utilities to a new traffic signal at Harbor Drive and Washington Avenue. Grand Haven Special Projects Manager Julie Beaton said these new signals are unique in how they are designed. "The signals are designed for two things - improved pedestrian connectivity and improved traffic flow,' she said.

Although construction in downtown Grand Haven has been completed, city officials are still trying to determine what to do with Columbus Avenue from Harbor Drive to Fourth Street. "Until (City Council) acts on it, it is going to stay how it is,' City Manager Pat McGinnis said of the current partial two-way configuration. The street was converted to allow two-way from Fourth Street to Harbor Drive during the onset of the downtown reconstruction project to allow for traffic to detour Washington Avenue.

Bridgette Koll said it is important to keep the memory of her best friend alive. "Stefanie was amazing,' Koll said. "It is super sad that people didn't get to meet her. If you knew Stefanie, she changed your life in one way or another.' Stefanie Bol died in 2008 of cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.

A Crockery Township man arrested for allegedly threatening his neighbor with a gun has pleaded no contest to two of the three original charges. Joshua Curtis Andrews, 21, was arraigned Tuesday in front of Ottawa County Circuit Judge Jon Hulsing. In exchange for a no-contest plea for felonious assault and aggravated indecent exposure, the third count of firearms possession under the influence of alcohol was dismissed.

An 18-year-old Belmont man suffered minor injuries after crashing his motorcycle in Grand Haven on Monday afternoon. The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said the motorcyclist was southbound on Harbor Drive when he popped the clutch on the vehicle, lost control and laid the bike down in front of 726 S. Harbor Ave. According to police, the motorcyclist was standing and alert when medical help arrived, and he received only abrasions to his knees. He received no medical treatment.
