A Crockery Township man arrested for allegedly threatening his neighbor with a gun has pleaded no contest to two of the three original charges. Joshua Curtis Andrews, 21, was arraigned Tuesday in front of Ottawa County Circuit Judge Jon Hulsing. In exchange for a no-contest plea for felonious assault and aggravated indecent exposure, the third count of firearms possession under the influence of alcohol was dismissed.

An 18-year-old Belmont man suffered minor injuries after crashing his motorcycle in Grand Haven on Monday afternoon. The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said the motorcyclist was southbound on Harbor Drive when he popped the clutch on the vehicle, lost control and laid the bike down in front of 726 S. Harbor Ave. According to police, the motorcyclist was standing and alert when medical help arrived, and he received only abrasions to his knees. He received no medical treatment.

Scott Lambourne, head chef at 22 Below, said his sauce with a "little bit of sweet, little bit of heat' is what makes the Grand Haven restaurant's ribs unique. Anthony Gonnella, chef at Anthony's Kicked Up Catering, said the dry rub and hardwood smoke with Michigan applewood puts his ribs ahead. Ed Walker of Ed N Pats Smokehouse BBQ said hard maple wood is the right kind to give his ribs a natural flavor.

More than 100 people attended the official ArtWalk kickoff event in downtown Grand Haven on May 19, marking the start of the second consecutive art competition. This year's community art competition takes place Sept. 22 to Oct. 8 in Grand Haven.

The high school youth group of First Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven, called The Tribe, will be hosting a car wash from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4. Memorial Day 2011 was marked in Grand Haven on Monday morning with a short but sun-filled parade on a newly paved Washington Avenue. George Bennett, a local veteran, served as the parade's grand marshal. A ceremony was held at Waterfront Stadium following the parade. Joe Schulte, a Grand Haven public safety officer and member of the National Guard who most recently served in Iraq, was the keynote speaker.

A flood watch is in effect for southern Lower Michigan, including Ottawa County, through late Sunday night.
