The upper floor of the Tri-Cities Historical Museum is ready for the holidays. Centennial Hall of the museum's Akeley Building, 200 Washington Ave., is filled with holiday wreaths, centerpieces, small trees and mantle decorations - and they're all up for bid.

Roger Jonas tried out a new way to eat the variety of soups served at the Soup for All benefit luncheon, held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday. Sampling seven of the nine soups on the menu in one bowl, the Ferrysburg man called his dish a "kamikaze soup.'

A longtime head of the Tri-Cities Historical Museum was recently honored for his years of promoting history in the community. Dennis Swartout, who recently retired as the museum's executive director, was named Historian of the Year by the museum's Board of Directors during its annual Heritage Dinner on Nov. 3.
