Grand Haven Board of Light & Power customers will be paying slightly more for their energy beginning July 1. As part of the municipal utility's recently approved budget, rates will be increased about 4.79 percent.

For Danny Hiemstra, painting requires standing almost nose-to-canvas with his project. The Grand Haven man has 5/500 vision, meaning he is legally blind. With glasses, his vision varies from 20/400 to 20/600.

A Grand Haven woman and her 12-year-old son were ordered to leave their home Monday when police said they determined it was an unfit place to live. Marijo Keller said she rented the home at 1720 Waverly Ave. from its owner, Gary Stillson.

Although graffiti vandalism is not considered a major crime, it still hits the victims in the wallet. Grand Haven Public Works Director Bill Hunter said it could cost up to $150 for materials and time involved in replacing a stop sign that's been "tagged.' "Tagging is spray-painting something,' he explained.
