This weekend, more than 20 students from colleges throughout Michigan and Ohio will compete in the fourth annual Downtown Holland Ice Sculpting Competition. The event is held in a partnership with the National Ice Carving Association - a global organization that says it is dedicated to promoting ice carving as an art and business, to providing ice-carving education to all ages, and to networking ice carvers across the country and around the world.

Police investigating a suspicious PVC tube found near a utility box in Holland later discovered it was just a left-behind piece of PVC tube from recent utility work. But it took calling out the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad to confirm that the pipe posed no safety hazard.

When the final horn sounded to signal the end of Wednesday's showdown between Grand Haven and Mona Shores, the victorious Buccaneers spilled out onto the ice and celebrated as if they'd just won the state championship. In fact, Wednesday's 2-1 win over Mona Shores was nothing more than a regular-season O-K Tier I contest, but don't tell that to the Bucs.
