A West Michigan call center is looking to hire 50 new employees. The positions are for roadside assistance specialists at the Novo One Center in Holland. The starting wage is $9 per hour with benefits. Applicants who want to apply should go to the Michigan Works office on Clover Street in Holland from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Novo One is asking that you apply online and bring your resume. If applicants do not have a computer, the Michigan Works office will provide them to use.

The rain held off for a majority of Grand Haven's trip to the Holland Quad tennis tournament on Saturday, with just a pair of matches rained out. Bucs' coach Jeremy Case said his squad was plagued by too many losses in third-set tie breakers and not enough consistent play throughout the tournament in their fourth-place finish.

In partnership with Hope College, Herrick District Library will host author Heather Sellers from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Sellers will discusses her book, "You Don't Look Like Anyone I Know.' Following her talk, there will be a book signing and a free boxed lunch provided for participants. After lunch, Sellers will lead a two-hour writing workshop on "writing your story.'

Three organists and scholars will perform at Hope College's Dimnent Memorial Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. The three scholars are Hope alumni Susan De Kam and Richard Newman, as well as University of Toronto alumnus Aaron Tan. The public is invited and admission is free.

The Jack Ridl Visiting Writers Series at Hope College will open its season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, with the sixth annual Tom Andrews Memorial Reading. It will feature poet Chris Dombrowski and memoirist Mira Bartok, both of whom are former Hope students, in the Knickerbocker Theatre. A performance by a Hope jazz group will precede the reading beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Hope College Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of the 2011-12 season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, in Dimnent Memorial Chapel. The public is invited and admission is free. "If you've never seen the Wind Ensemble before, this concert would be a great way to introduce yourself to Hope College's premiere wind and brass group,' said director Gabe Southard, assistant professor of music at Hope.

Spring Lake's varsity boys tennis team scored eight points to place third out of four teams at Saturday's Holland Quad. Mitch Davis scored one point for the Lakers by going 1-2 at No. 3 singles. His win came against Lowell. Harrison Palmer and Stuart Velarde went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles, with wins over Lowell and Holland. Jonah Yoshonis and Erik Johnson also went 2-1 and were declared flight champions at third doubles after scoring wins over Lowell and Holland. Brenden Peel and Josh Cole were unbeaten at fourth doubles.

Families and students engaged in the college search will have the opportunity to connect with nearly 70 colleges and universities during the Holland Area College Fair on Thursday, Sept. 29. Hosted by Hope College, the event will be held in the Richard and Helen DeVos Fieldhouse from 6:30-8 p.m. In addition to featuring representatives and information from the participating colleges and universities, the fair will include two 30-minute information sessions regarding the financial aid process, starting at 6:45 and 7:25 p.m.
