GH golfers gain revenge on Jenison

Two days after being defeated by Jenison at the Ottawa County Invitational at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Grand Haven gained revenge on the Wildcats by beating them head-to-head during an O-K Red Conference tri-meet at Grand Haven Golf Club on Tuesday. The Bucs finished with a score of 175, which bested the ‘Cats' 183, and Muskegon's 226.

“I wasn’t sure how we would handle Jenison, since they just beat us, but the team answered with solid rounds, while Jenison struggled with the difficulty of the wind and trees,” Grand Haven coach Randy White said.
White said he was shooting for a team score of 164, but was satisfied being 11 shots off that goal, considering the harsh spring weather conditions.

“The course played 2-4 shots harder per man than it does in normal conditions,” White said.

Sophomore Kevin LaCroix and senior Ben Lewis tied for the Bucs’ lead with scores of 42, while Patrick Ferris was close behind with a 44. Anthony Perrier shot a 47, followed by Ethan Groothuis’ 49 and Mark Nalley’s 50.

The Bucs are scheduled to travel to East Kentwood today to face the Falcons and Hudsonville Eagles, and on Thursday, they’ll return to The Meadows for the O-K Red midseason tournament.
