SL soccer dominates Grant

Spring Lake remained unbeaten in Lakes Eight Conference girls soccer play with a 7-0 win over Grant on Wednesday. Emily Walling scored twice for the Lakers, who are now 5-4 overall and 4-0 in league action. Katie Albright, Annie Cook, Katie Smith, Sarah Park and Leeann Latsch each added single goals for the Lakers. Spring Lake hosts No. 1-ranked (Division 3) Hudsonville Unity Christian today, with the varsity game scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m.

Junior Varsity: Spring Lake shut out Hart on Wednesday, winning 8-0. Maya Denslow scored twice for the Lakers while Shelby Komar, Sierra Gipson, Ali Kilbry, Ellen Hyde, Rachel Pennington and Becca Boven each added single goals. Karley Engelsman played well for the Lakers.

BUCS’ FRESHMEN TIE TWICE

Grand Haven tied Holland Christian on Wednesday, 1-1. Maggie Lalonde scored the Bucs’ lone goal while Miranda Petersen and Caitlyn Ploeg played well in goal for the Bucs. On Monday, Grand Haven tied East Kentwood, 1-1. Allison Marshall put away the lone Bucs’ goal on an assist from Maddie Nass.
