Tulip Time organ recitals begin Wednesday

Hope College will contribute to Holland's annual Tulip Time festival this week with organ recitals from Wednesday through Saturday. Occurring every half-hour, the 20-minute performances begin at 10 a.m. each day. The last performance of the day will begin at 1:30 p.m. The recitals will take place at Dimnent Memorial Chapel, 277 College Ave. The public is invited and admission is free.

The organists include David Bellows, a 2005 graduate from Rochester, N.Y.; Marie Blauwkamp, a 1962 graduate from Zeeland; Elizabeth Claar, a staff accompanist at Hope; Christopher Dekker, a 2009 graduate from Hudsonville; David Schout, a 2000 graduate from Zeeland; and Linda Strouf, a 1984 graduate who is an adjunct assistant professor of music at Hope.

Two organs will be used in the recitals: the Chancel Organ, which was built in 1929 by the E.M. Skinner Organ Co. of Boston, Mass., and recently renovated; and the Gallery Organ, built in 1970 by the Pels and Van Leeuwen Organ Co. of Alkmaar, the Netherlands.
