Sytsemas buy into VBK Funeral Homes

The Sytsema family has bought into the ownership of a longtime Grand Haven funeral home business. Craig Sytsema - who works for VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Homes of Grand Haven and Spring Lake - and his two brothers, Scott and Todd, have purchased a one-third share of VBK. "We are fourth-generation funeral directors and we are very proud of that,' Craig said. Scott and Todd Sytsema are funeral directors for the family's Sytsema Funeral Homes Inc. in Muskegon.

Craig said the businesses will remain separate, but the partial ownership change of VBK will lead to more cooperation and shared resources.

“My brothers will continue to work at Sytsema and help at VBK when they’re needed,” Craig said.

The brothers purchased the share of VBK owned by Si Workman.
