A Muskegon Heights man was arrested on charges of parole violation and possession of a controlled substance, police said. Junius Emil Evans, 33, was also ticketed for having open intoxicants in the vehicle and littering.

Police said Evans told them he had recently been released from prison after serving seven years on a manslaughter charge.

Another passenger, Kale Germain McSwain, 30, of Grand Rapids, was arrested for parole violation, possession of cocaine and four outstanding warrants out of Kent County.

Both men were taken to the Ottawa County Jail without incident, police said.

The driver, Jason Christopher-Jarrod Steward, 28, of Muskegon Heights, was ticketed for driving while his license was suspended and improper lane use. Steward and another passenger were allowed to go home in a taxi, police said.

Police confiscated a bottle of pills and a container of suspected crack cocaine.
