2 hurt in 6-vehicle crash on Spring Lake bridge

Six vehicles were involved in a crash on the M-104 bridge approaching the drawbridge late Saturday morning. Sgt. Curt Theune of the Spring Lake/Ferrysburg Police Department said traffic was stopped on the westbound M-104 bridge, approaching U.S. 31, shortly after 10:30 a.m. Several cars and a garbage truck collided.

A 22-year-old woman, who told police she recently moved back home to Spring Lake Township from East Lansing, was cited for failure to stop an assured distance ahead. Theune said the woman complained of neck pain, but refused medical treatment at the scene and said she would seek her own treatment.

Another driver involved in the crash complained of neck and head injuries, and was taken by a Pro-Med ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital.

Theune said Saturday he was still working out the details of the crash.
