GH golf struggles at East Kentwood

Grand Haven's girls golfers took on the top two teams in the O-K Red Conference on one of the league's toughest courses on Thursday and came up well short. Grandville and East Kentwood each shot a 200 on Kentwood's home course, Stone Water Country Club. Grandville won the match on a tiebreaker. The Buccaneers shot a 220. "This was a tough course,' Bucs' coach Roger Glass said. "Grandville and East Kentwood have been shooting in the 180s. The greens were really slick and they gave the girls some trouble.'

Kristin Carlson shot a 53 to lead the Bucs. Hailey Watkins added a 54, while Sierra Olthoff, who was not feeling well, finished with a 56. Kira Glass fired a 57 for the Bucs, who return home for a pair of league matches next week.
